NOTICE OF RACE

Hilton State Park, Dover, NH

10:00 AM Registration, Skippers Meeting at 11:00 AM at the park

  1. RULES: The Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) the Laser Class Rules (ILCA) the NA Masters Rules, this Notice of Race (NOR), the Sailing Instructions (SI) as issued, and any amendments.
  2. CLASS: Laser Standard, Laser Radial. No measurements will be taken. All sail in one fleet.
  3. ELIGIBILITY: Open to all ages.
  4. SCHEDULE:

Skipper’s Meeting: 11:00 AM
First Warning: 12:00 PM +/-
Races to follow
High tide is at 1:55 PM
BBQ /awards at GBYC to follow last race

  1. ENTRY: GBYC is located on Wentworth Terrace, Dover Point, NH at 43:124589, -70.8131513, a very short walk from Hilton Park. Registration officials will be on site at Hilton Park for your convenience by registration time and the Skippers Meeting will be held at the park. Barbecue and awards at the club. The entry fee of $40 can be paid in cash or by check, please make sure you register BEFORE the Skippers meeting. Entry includes a tradition of a great Race Committee and support boats, and after racing generous cook cookout and a variety of beverages appropriate for the spirit of the day.
  2. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS: Available at registration
  3. SCORING: Low Point Scoring as per RRS Appendix A. There will be one discard after 5 completed races.
  4. RACING AREA: Launch at the State of NH ramp at Hilton Park and race upstream in the designated area.
  5. COURSES: Windward-leeward, triangle or a combination of the two.
  6. AWARDS: First through Fifth plus, The Wally Johnson Sportsmanship Award based on attitude, reaction to special situations during the regatta, or any other notable occurrence that expresses the high ideals of sportsmanship.

  8. LOCATION: from Portsmouth NH: normally Exit 5 off the Spaulding Turnpike /NH Route 4/16 North on the Dover side of the Piscataqua River where it meets Great Bay; however, Exit 5 is temporarily CLOSES due to construction. Therefore take Exit 6W and follow map below to get to Boston Harbor/ Dover Point Road which parallels the highway on the south side and drive under the highway to get to Hilton Park. Use the designated Parking area and grass lawns. From west and north of Dover, take a route that will get you on Boston Harbor and Dover Point Road.

Annual Spring Social and Meeting April 6th

The 2019 Season is Almost Here– Save These Dates!

Docks Out will be November 3rd: high tide is at 9:30 am so we should be able to get things squared away early.

Our Fall Social and Meeting will be November 10th: Please RSVP by November 1.

This Saturday, 7/28: 60th Anniversary Celebration!

ALL WELCOME this coming Saturday, July 28th, to celebrate Great Bay Yacht Club’s 60th Anniversary! 

10:00 Registration for Ned McIntosh’s Merry Mac Regatta at Hilton Park (Welcoming all ages; open to all Merry Macs, Oyster River Cats, and other small boats/dinghies!)

11:00 Skippers Meeting at Hilton Park (note time change from brochure notice)

11:30 Racer’s Launch

12:00 First Gun – Races Start

The 60th Anniversary Celebration Social will begin at approximately 3 pm; formal remarks and awards presentation at approximately 4:30 pm.

  • Cook-out provided by GBYC; bring a dish to share and BYOB (water and soda will be provided).
  • We will have music: bring an instrument and play along! 
  • Commemorative T-shirts will be on sale and a Silent Auction/Raffle will be held to help GBYC thrive for the next 60 years.

Great Bay Yacht Club / Hilton Sate Park / Dover Point, NH 10:00 am Registration, Races to follow

1. RULES: (Loosely followed by popular recommendation) – Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS).
2. CLASS: Traditional Merry Mac, Oyster River Cat, and other small Sailing Boats/Dinghies. No measurements will be taken. All boats may or may not sail in one fleet, pending registrants. All dinghy sailors are welcome!
3. ELIGIBILITY: Open to all ages, all Merry Macs & Oyster River Cats & Other dinghy sailors.
4. SCHEDULE:
Skipper’s Meeting: 11:00 am (HIGH tide is at 2:10 pm) First Race Warning Signal: 12:00 Noon
More races will follow.
Last race warning 2:00 pm, no later than 2:15 pm, BBQ /awards 3:00 pm at GBYC, Wentworth Terrace
5. ENTRY: GBYC is located on Wentworth Terrace, Dover Point, NH, a very short walk from Hilton Park. Registration officials will be at Hilton Park by 9:00 am and the 10:00 am Skippers Meeting will be held there as well.
Barbecue and awards will be held at the Club on Wentworth Terrace.
The entry fee of $35 can be paid in cash or by check. ($20 if all racers are 17 or younger.) Please make sure you register BEFORE the Skippers meeting.
Entry includes the well-earned Great Bay Yacht Club tradition of great Race Committee, support boats, apres racing cookout with beverages appropriate for the spirit of the day, and Awards for top boats in all classes.
6. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS: Provided at Skipper’s Meeting.
7. SCORING: Low Point Scoring as per RRS Appendix A, Appendix A4
8. RACING AREA: Launch at the State of NH ramp at Hilton Park and sail upstream in the designated area. There may be some room at the GBYC dock, please check with GBYC in advance.
9. COURSES: To be announced at the Skippers’ Meeting.
